Krishi Vigyan Kendra Malappuram is district level Farm Science Centre established by the Kerala Agricultural University with the support of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for speedy transfer of technology to the farmer's fields.
KVK Malappuram is situated in the Kelappaji
College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (KCAET), campus
The aim of KVK is to reduce the time lag between generation of technology at the research institution and its transfer to the farmer's fields for increasing production and productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis.
The KVK aims at technology assessment, refinement and frontline demonstration of the technology and its dissemination through training of farmers and extension personnel.
The mandates of KVK are
Conduct "On - farm testing" for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system.
Organise training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
Organise short and long term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the farmers and rural youth with emphasis on "learning by doing" for higher production on farms and generating self-employment.
Organise front line demonstrations on various crops to generate production data and feed back information.
